Scherzi Musicali aims to be an ambassador for music written on our lands. Joseph-Hector Fiocco, chapel master in Antwerp and Brussels in the eighteenth century, established himself as a figure to be rediscovered. Although of Italian blood, Fiocco was born in Brussels. Its dual origin merges French and Italian aesthetics with a disconcerting naturalness. It presents a high quality music, which seduces from the first listening, and which is not without evoking Couperin, Charpentier, Vivaldi or Handel. This programme allows you to hear his motets and laments that were housed in the Cathedral of Saints-Michel and Gudule in Brussels, which are now kept at the Conservatory (Fond Fétis). Scherzi Musicali's passion for this compatriot has led the ensemble to devote two albums to his motets, albums unanimously acclaimed by international critics (Musique en Wallonie 2009 and 2017, collection "inédits").
