Salve Regina

Scherzi Musicali aims to be an ambassador of music written in the southern Netherlands. Little is known about the music of Joseph-Hector Fiocco, choirmaster in Antwerp and in Brussels in the eighteenth century. The Cathedral of St. Michael and Gudule in Brussels housed a considerable collection of motets, now preserved at the Conservatoire in the Fond Fétis. This program allows to hear five motets with one, two or four voices, the writing of which merges with a natural disconcerting French and Italian aesthetics. Music of high quality which evokes Couperin, Charpentier, Vivaldi or Handel. The success of the first album recorded in 2009 called for a sequel: a second volume appeared in March 2017.
