Lamentatio Jeremiæ prophætæ

Scherzi Musicali aims to be an ambassador for written music in the Southern Netherlands. Little is known about the music of Joseph-Hector Fiocco, chapel master in Antwerp and Brussels in the eighteenth century. The Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudule in Brussels housed a considerable collection of sacred music that is now kept at the Conservatory in the Fétis Fund. This program allows to hear some of Fiocco's laments in a single voice, obligatory cello and continuo, whose writing merges French and Italian aesthetics with a disconcerting naturalness to it. A high quality music that evokes Couperin, Charpentier, Vivaldi or Handel.
